Welcome

Brazil, aside from its beautiful beaches, is known for football (or America’s soccer). The sport, which was introduced by Charles Miller, who was an English sportsman, has since then defined the Brazilians’ way of life mainly because it transcended social status – after all, all you need is a large free area and a round object to play it.

The sport is administered by the Brazil Football Confederation or the Confederacao Brasileira de Futebol (CBF). It is up to the organization then who gets to coach the national team and negotiates with the local teams who gets to play for the Selacao or the national team.

A typical season for a Brazilian team starts with the State Championship which happens quarterly. The champions of their respective states then progress to the National Championship where they battle with all the state champions. The National Championship is considered Brazil’s most important tournament.

Teams also have chance to play in the Copa do Brasil or the Brazil Cup, where the only ones who goes on are the winner of every round. The cup is often played simultaneously with the State and National Championships.
